In this anthology, The Seattle Five Plus One bring their high-energy, image-rich poetry to the printed page. After building a large audience through their popular reading series at Catchpenny Books in Seattle, the Five Plus One appeared regularly at art galleries and coffeehouse, bookstores and private homes in the Puget Sound region. The group had one goal -- to bring the power of living, oral poetry to the audience through direct contact in small gatherings. Rhythmic, imaginative and mythic, these poems bring energy to the printed page as the poets reach deep to pull the reader back to the time of collective story telling, to a time of oracular visions, to a time of ritual images. Image and rhythm and music and verbal inventiveness drive this poetry. Rarely has the translation from performance to the written page been achieved so well as in this collection.
